Jack White's "Lazaretto" To Be Pressed As "ULTRA LP"

4:46 PM

Jack White, Third Man Records and United Record Pressing are pushing the boundaries of vinyl production with the release of Jack White's upcoming second solo studio album entitled "Lazaretto" being pressed on what is being called the Ultra LP.

The Ultra LP has a fair share of "hidden" gems and cool features, at least more than you'd expect from your average LP. One to start with is the A-Side is actually played in reverse, starting from the center to outer edge. There will also be two vinyl only hidden tracks underneath the center labels, allowing you to play these tracks through the labels themselves (yeah pretty cool). One of the aforementioned hidden tracks plays at 45 rpm and the other at 75 rpm, making this a 3-speed LP.

There are a slew of other extras on the Ultra LP, here's what Third Man Records has provided:

-180 gram vinyl

- 2 vinyl-only hidden tracks hidden beneath the center labels

- 1 hidden track plays at 78 RPM, one plays at 45 RPM, making this a 3-speed record

- Side A plays from the inside out

- Dual-groove technology: plays an electric or acoustic intro for “Just One Drink” depending on where needle is dropped. The grooves meet for the body of the song

- Matte finish on Side B, giving the appearance of an un-played 78 RPM record

- Both sides end with locked grooves

- Vinyl pressed in seldom-used flat-edged format

- Dead wax area on Side A contains a hand-etched hologram by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science, the first of its kind on a vinyl record

- Different running order from the CD/digital version

- LP utilizes some mixes different from those used on CD and digital version

The hand-etched artwork in the dead wax area translated very well and should be seen rather than described. You can see all that and more in the demonstration video of the Ultra LP below.

Vault subscribers need not worry, all these features will be included in the Vault version as well. This is a tasty gold nugget you don't want to miss out on. Pre-Order Jack White's "Lazaretto" Ultra LP HERE.
